Beach Clubs… The New Must have On-Board!
The superyacht lifestyle is rapidly changing in part due to covid restrictions and also due to trending yacht refit requirements in the 2020s. The big new trend in Superyacht design is now one with a large entertainment area on the main deck with covered, what were sundecks, creating a ‘Beach Club’ type feel and ambience.
The sun is no longer our friend these days and people no longer want to be exposed and so rather than gigantic sun pads, they want sheltered outdoor seating areas that are palpably close to the water, possibly filled with greenery and furnished with couches, rugs, lanterns and lots of tactile textiles, it’s a very Mediterranean concept and feel.

These new on-board beach clubs are usually equipped for entertainment as well as relaxation. On Severin, the 55-metre Baglietto built superyacht it not only has a steam shower, but also a 4K-resolution LED wall with an area of about six square metres suitable for video art or screening movies or sports. It’s the creation of audiovisual specialist Videoworks, which also put a retractable 55-inch 4K outdoor television with 180-degree rotation on the yacht’s sundeck that can be viewed either from the lounge or the pool, and a 90-inch cinema screen on the upper deck.
You’ll be seeing much more of these On-Board Beach Clubs and a lot less of the rich entertaining onshore as long as the pandemic continues and the sun keeps shinning, which both may be a very long time.
